Prepare to finally play the game! Blizzard

With the global release of World of Warcraft Classic scheduled in just a few short hours, we wrap out our ongoing guide by looking at the other aspects of the game. We've talked about realm types, classes, characters, and even professions. So what other things do you need to know before you dive into Azeroth?

Resources

In the past guide we've talked about classes and what they bring to the table. It is also important to keep in mind that certain classes need resources in order to be able to cast specific spells or even use certain abilities. Rogues, for instance, need to make poisons that they can then apply to their weapons. In order to case Prayer of Fortitute, Priests have to buy candles. If you decide to have your character use ranged weapons like a bow, then you have to make sure that you have a steady supply of arrows.

Getting Around Azeroth

In getting around Azeroth, it's not necessary that you simply walk. There are a network of ship routes, flight paths, and zeppelins that help you get around this massive world. You need to be able to remember these routes. Things are going to change for you once you reach level 40. Once you reach this level you can learn the riding skill. In addition, if you have enough gold, you are going to be able to buy your first ever mount.

Grouping Up and Looting

While playing alone may be your thing, there are going to be instances when you need to group up with other players. The reason is simple, you need to do this in order to complete quests faster or take down more powerful foes. While in a group, which is known as a party, you get credit for shared kills. Thus, everyone in the group can benefit.

Each party has a leader that sets loot distribution based on specific rules. These rules are:

  • Master Loot: The party leader determines who gets the loot.
  • Round Robin: Each party member loots in turn.
  • Group Loot: Party members can roll on powerful items.
  • Need Before Greed: Only party members who can use the item can roll on it.
  • Free-for-All: Anyone can loot anything.

Tthe best thing to do is that before you and your party do anything big, make sure the loot rules are well established. This allows you to avoid any unnecessary quarrels along the way. If you're eyeing a particular item, you need to discuss this with your party on how that item is going to be distributed.

Raids and Dungeons

The final tip we have for you relates to raids and dungeons. Once Wow Classic is officially launched, you're going to be able to participate in some of the dungeons and raids that defined the game in its earliest days.

This is the reason why it is important to group with other players and form a party. You can even invite your friends to join the game so all of you can immediately have a party. You can also go to World of Warcraft Forums and look for players that you can group with. Here's the thing though, if you and your party members come from different locations, you are going to have to agree on a location and wait for everyone to make their way there. This is where having a Warlock comes in handy as they can simply summon the other party members to the agreed upon location.
