For those who can remember, Who Wants to Be a Millionaire was a show that captured the hearts of many. It wasn’t only because of the cash prize but also in seeing the contestants take on questions with ever-increasing difficulty. So, it was a no-brainer that it would have a video game adaptation.

The newest one is Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? - New Edition, now available in North America on PlayStation 5. Those who play on other platforms may have to wait a bit longer. The game is arriving on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch sometime in early 2022.

This latest version comes with extra content that includes:

  • More than 3,000 new questions for a grand total of 8,000 questions.
  • New question packs that are sure to put the knowledge of players to the test with topics like Olympic Games and even Justice League.
  • Enjoy a new option that lets players remove the timer. This should let everyone take the time they need to submit their final answer.
  • A new “quick game” mode focused on questions and answers that let players reach the million faster.
  • Enhanced models and animations that immerses all contestants.

Players can also expect updates releasing over the next year, which offer new themed question packs featuring categories like sports, movies, and video games.

Overall, the game offers an experience that the entire family can enjoy, especially with the two difficulty settings. The first is the Solo mode with normal difficulty. The second is also a Solo mode but has simpler questions aimed at a younger audience.

There are also local multiplayer game modes where friends and family can challenge each other:

  • Free-for-All
    • Up to four players have their own controller and challenge each other simultaneously on a series of questions.
  • Taking Turns
    • Gather 10 players for a game of sudden death where a wrong answer means instant elimination.
    • This mode is playable with one controller.
    • It has a “Family” setting where everyone can join the action.
  • Cooperative
    • Team up with three other players and work together for the win.

In addition to the three mentioned, there’s also one that could be seen as the ultimate challenge. The “Battle Royale” mode has you challenge 99 other players to try and reach the top.
