Acclaimed indie hit What Remains of Edith Finch will get a PS4 physical release in early January 2018, with the game’s soundtrack coming to vinyl shortly thereafter.

Developed by Giant Sparrow and published by Annapurna Interactive, What Remains of Edith Finch has garnered rave reviews from both fans and critics, and is likely to feature on more than a few GOTY lists. The game is currently in contention for best independent game at the 2017 Game Awards, with the winners set to be revealed Dec. 7. The physical version will include a premium reversible cover insert, and will also be region-free.

While the PS4 physical release won’t quite make the holiday cutoff, it’s a great way to treat yo’ self, or any Capricorn gamers in your life. Surely our loved ones born in January deserve better than stale candy canes and deep-discount polar fleece? You can preorder a physical copy of the game for $29.99 at iam8bit.

The vinyl soundtrack for the game will be available to purchase in Q2 2018, retailing for $28. It will showcase feature the atmospheric, eerie music of Jeff Russo, an Emmy-winning composer behind shows like Fargo, Legion and The Night Of. In a press release, Annapurna Interactive describes the soundtrack as follows:

“The musical cadence of What Remains of Edith Finch is deliberately slow, immensely methodical and eventually, cathartic. Once you reach its bittersweet and triumphant conclusion, the score, at first so somber, achieves something few soundtracks do - taking the listener on a robust emotional journey.”

In the game, players take the role of Edith, a young woman driven to learn the history of her now-deceased family members by exploring the centuries-old family home. In our review, Player. One’s own ND Medina called it an “atmospheric rumination on loss, grief, stories, heritage and despair” that is remarkably “solidly build and lovingly crafted.”
