In Scandal Season 5 episode 20, the different Republican camps are doing a lot to get certain opponents out of the race. Olivia, who is running Mellie’s campaign, is working to get Hollie Doyle out of the race. Abby, who is apart of Susan’s campaign, accepts help from Eli Pope to get Mellie out of the race. At this point it is uncertain who will have to concede the Republican nomination.
On the Democrat side, Edison Davis is running for president with the newly married Jake Ballard expected to be his vice president. However, in an episode 20 sneak peek, Edison has a meeting with Jake, telling Jake he is not interested in him as his vice president.
Jake is the head of the NSA and recently married political socialite Vanessa Moss to increase his clout in Washington. He and Eli have planned this to get Jake into the White House. Jake tells Edison that he will essentially be a mouthpiece as president while Jake and Eli run the show.
Will Edison be able to get rid of Jake as his vice presidential candidate? We will find out in the upcoming episode, called “ Trump Card ,” which is best viewed on television or live online through ABC Live .
