The official YouTube app for iOS has finally added support for Google Cardboard at long last, and now iPhone users can watch 360-degree YouTube videos like their Android peers. Google added 360 support for the Android version of YouTube late last year, but iPhone users have been stuck using alternatives such as the Disney Accelerator backed Littlstar app to watch 360-degree videos on iOS.

How To Watch A 360-degree Video On The Youtube App For iOS

To watch a 360-degree video on the YouTube app for iOS, you have two choices. All videos on YouTube can be viewed in Google Cardboard mode, so any video will work, but there are a host of professionally produced 360-degree videos you can choose from as well.

Watching a regular video in Google Cardboard mode will place you in a cinema-style viewing room, where the video is played on a screen in front of you.

Once you’ve picked the video you would like to watch with a Google Cardboard headset and have opened it in the YouTube app for iOS, click on the three vertical dots in the top right corner of the app while in portrait orientation. It should be immediately to the left of the circle icon with an “i” inside of it.

After that, simply hit the Google Cardboard icon pops up immediately in the overlay menu. YouTube will turn on Google Cardboard mode for the video and you’ll be able to place your iPhone into a headset to watch the video in 360-degrees.

What To Watch
