We’re aware of the rumors claiming Negan kills two people in The Walking Dead Season 7 premiere...We just didn’t want them to be true. Jeffrey Dean Morgan confirmed our worst fear.
Morgan told Den of Geek in a special issue for New York Comic Con 2016 there will be more than one death in The Walking Dead Season 7 premiere – that bloody mess we saw at the end of the latest teaser might be the guts of at least two members of Rick’s group.
“Negan’s not just going to kill one person in [the premiere],” Morgan said. “He’s not afraid of bashing in skulls.”
Well, Negan is an asshole. We wouldn’t expect anything less.
Saying goodbye to two The Walking Dead characters will be tough for fans. However, it does justify the terrible cliffhanger at The Walking Dead Season 6 finale. Killing two people will cement Negan’s status as the worst villain in The Walking Dead history, next to Rick of course. Let’s be real, Rick has a dark side and isn’t always the good guy. We know he tries to be, but you can’t kill a bunch of people in their sleep and call yourself a good guy, even if your intentions were in the “right” place.
Morgan also explained to Den of Geek why he likes playing the character despite how much fans hate him.
“As soon as the cameras are rolling and I get Lucille in my hand, it kind of just transforms me,” Morgan said. “This character in particular has been such a joy to play for me. Put the dark stuff aside and the horrible things that Negan does… As an actor, it’s just been so much fun. We’re kind of midway through filming season seven, so I feel like I’m pretty locked in.”
Lucille is pretty badass. She’s named after Negan’s wife, which was the first person he saw turn when the zombie apocalypse happened. Negan was always an ass , but it seems like he was always built for the horrors of the new world.
The Walking Dead Season 7 premieres Oct. 23 on AMC.
