Voice of Cards: The Beasts of Burden is now available digitally on PC through Steam, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch. This is the third turn-based adventure of the Voice of Cards franchise

Like the other games in the franchise, Voice of Cards: The Beasts of Burden introduces players to an illustrated world presented through the medium of cards. This time around, players can trap the monsters they were able to defeat in cards and use them as skills in battle.

The game follows the story of a world with a millennium of hatred between humans and monsters. In this world, a girl seeks revenge on monsters after losing her home to them. She teams up with a mysterious boy as the two go on a journey into the unknown and unravel the fate of the broken world.

This unique gaming experience is made possible by the creative minds behind games, such as the Voice of Cards series, NieR series, and Drakengard. Members of the team are:

  • Creative Director: YOKO TARO (Drakengard series, NieR series)
  • Music Director: Keiichi Okabe (Drakengard 3, NieR series)
  • Character Designer: Kimihiko Fujisaka (Drakengard series).

Fans of YOKO TARO can buy the Digital Deluxe Edition set, which has the Voice of Cards: The Beasts of Burden game and some DLC items styled after the award-winning mobile RPG, NieR Re[in]carnation. There are also these goodies:

  • Decoration of Those in the Cage
    • New costumes for the game’s heroine and her companions.
  • Handbook Pattern
    • Card reverse patterned after an expert handbook.
  • Mama Avatar
    • Avatar designed patterned after Mama.
  • Story Collectors’ Dice
    • Dice patterned after Mama and Carrier.
  • The Cage Board
    • Board and accessories patterned after the Cage.
  • Aid Table
    • Table patterned after the random draw screen.
  • Melody of reincarnation
    • A soundtrack that brings to mind a certain tale of the girl and the monster.
  • Pixel Art Set
    • Replaces all character and enemy illustrations with pixel art.

By the way, those who buy the game before October can get the Iron Avatar DLC, which unlocks an avatar design with a lustrous iron color. There’s also the Somber Girl’s Abstract Pattern DLC as an early purchase reward. This one unlocks a card with the reverse patterned after the back view of the game’s heroine.
