Riot’s competitive shooter Valorant has been in closed beta for a little over a month now. The only way to access the closed beta is to watch streamers who have drops enabled on Twitch and hope you find a key waiting in your messages. Riot is still managing issues with the game and recently expanded the closed beta to more regions such as South Korea, Brazil, and Latin America.

To combat issues such as hacks, cheats, cheat signatures, and third-party software that give an advantage in-game, Riot has implemented a well-built anti-cheat system called Vanguard that has administration rights to all your files. This anti-cheat software launches right when you start your computer, but even with a sturdy anti-cheat system like Riot’s, people have still managed to get away with hacks and cheats. Riot detected their first cheater in Valorant within the third day of the closed beta, and as of now the number has increased up to nearly 9,000 cheaters.

“Our anti-cheat for Valorant is designed to make sure players can trust the game and have a positive experience while playing,” Riot’s anti-cheat lead Paul “Arkem” Chamberlain stated in a recent article. “So, our primary success criteria are how well you all think we’re doing. We track the number of players reports for cheating, we ask players directly via surveys for their impression, and we keep track of player sentiment on social media.”

The official Twitter account for Riot Vanguard mentioned that despite Valorant only being in a closed beta state right now, the company is still dedicated to keeping it as cheat-free as possible. “This banwave is still only the beginning. We're going to ensure the highest standard of competitive integrity in Valorant,” the tweet reads.

You can expect Valorant to leave its closed beta after Riot has fixed as many issues as possible with the game. Valorant will also be free to play when it launches and it will have a competitive background with multiple organizations such as Fnatic, 100 Thieves, and BDS already hosting minor tournaments with reasonable prize pools.

So, what are your thoughts on Valorant’s anti-cheat system? Do you think the anti-cheat system will work as intended without any safety failure issues? Whatever your thoughts may be, let us know in the comments below.
