StarCrat 2 is preparing to kickstart the new 2019 Ladder Season 4. This new season introduces new 1v1 and Team maps to the ladder. These maps are available for playtesting or exploration starting this coming Tuesday. Players can find these maps under the Custom Games section of Multiplayer.

Here are some of the maps arriving for 1v1:

  • Eternal Empire LE
    • This map is a modern interpretation of Cloud Kingdom. It takes the good parts of that map and then makes it larger. This modification also makes the map more suited for Legacy of the Void. In addition, this version focuses mainly on the idea of the "longer path gives a better angle."
  • Nightshade LE
    • This map may not offer what players consider a revolutionary change of pace. However, it has a solid standard layout which lets players choose from a wide range of different playstyles. The rocks at both third base options, for example, can help with early defense. The aesthetics, particularly the organic version of cyberpunk with bright purples, pinks, and blues, can contrast well with the darker base textures.
  • Simulacrum LE
    • This battleground not only offers the standard complement of open areas and chokes, but also gives choices for expansion. Players can choose to defend central bridges or take control of the forward high ground bases.
  • Zen LE
    • Set in a Zen garden, the map even has two Koi ponds on both sides.
    • The main features of this map are two small entrances. The first one allows players a direct and short path to the opponent. While it's only one tile wide, it can be enlarged by mining the minerals. The other choke measures six tiles wide and leads to the third base.
    • In the middle, players can find two sets of mineral walls that make the path one tile wide. These paths make even large armies extremely slow. That is, unless you mine them out.

For the Team Maps, here's what players can expect:

  • 2v2
    • Heavy Artillery LE
      • As the name implies, it's time to bring out the big guns. This map has a mineral wall that blocks off the shortest path into the naturals. There are also rocks that partially block attack routes. The map also features Reduced Mineral Fields that block the ramp going to the naturals.
  • 3v3
    • Augustine Fall LE
      • What makes this map exciting is that one of the teammates spawns separate from the rest of the team. However, the main bases are connected with a pocket area between them. Each player has the choice to take a pocket base or even get a forward one as their natural.
  • 4v4
    • Concorde LE
      • In this 4v4 map, each team can defend a single choke at the start and the map offers a generous amount of expansion routes. However, it's good to note that rocks partially block the important attack routes in the early game.

Overall players can expect the final map pool for 2019 Season 4 to be:

  • 1v1
    • Triton LE
    • Ephemeron LE
    • World of Sleepers LE
    • Zen LE
    • Simulacrum LE
    • Nightshade LE
    • Eternal Empire LE
  • 2v2
    • Heavy Artillery LE
    • Divergence LE
    • Efflorescence LE
    • Dusty Gorge
    • Shrines of Lizul
    • Overgrown Facility
    • Emerald City LE
  • 3v3
    • Augustine Fall LE
    • Bone Temple LE
    • Rosebud LE
    • Snowbound Colony
    • Whitewater Line LE
    • Stranded Isles
    • Canyon of Tribulation
  • 4v4
    • Concord LE
    • Sunset Valley LE
    • Shipwrecked LE
    • Troizinia LE
    • Old Estate
    • Multiprocessor LE
    • Sacred Grounds

What are you waiting for? Time to jump in and practice.
