The backward compatibility of the Xbox One is one of its best features. It opens the console to a vast library of games, spanning the two previous generations of Microsoft consoles: the original Xbox and the Xbox 360. It seems much more welcome thanks to the fact that Microsoft’s exclusives for its current-generation console have been lacking. The backward compatibility feature allows the Xbox One to play through older titles again, this time with much more polish due to the more powerful hardware of the console.

The catalog for these backward compatible games just got bigger, with today’s announcement that Team Ninja’s Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor’s Edge and Redlynx’s Trials Evolution are now backward compatible for the Xbox One. The announcement came from a Tweet by Larry Hryb, also known as Major Nelson, a well-known member of the Xbox community.

With Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor’s Edge now backward compatible, Team Ninja’s Ryu Hayabusa trilogy is fully playable on the Xbox One. A few weeks ago, Ninja Gaiden 2 was also announced for backward compatibility, even coming with enhancements for the Xbox One X version. These enhancements include higher frame rates, better resolution and increased stability, making it a dream to play on the powerful console. As of this time, there is no information if either Trials Evolution or Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor’s Edge will get enhancements for the Xbox One X.

If you have physical copies of either Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor’s Edge or Trials Evolution for the Xbox 360, you can simply pop in the disc on your Xbox One, Xbox One S or Xbox One X and your game should load straight away.

The addition of both Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor’s Edge and Trials Evolution to Xbox One’s list of backward compatible games now bring the total tally up to 27 new games added to the program just for this year alone. Here is the full list of 2019's additions as of today:
