A new patch for the 3D action-RPG Titan Quest: Eternal Embers is now available. Update 3 introduces new shrines that can afflict players with curses. This update also brings other new features, including a new currency and an overhauled character window screen.

Shrines in Titan Quest: Eternal Embers are objects that normally give a temporary buff for 60 seconds. However, the Curse Shrines introduced in Update 3 can reduce the player’s resistances instead, depending on the shrine they’ve activated. For instance, choosing the Malevolent Poison curse shrine reduces poison resistance considerably.

Once applied, curses remain active until they’re cleansed by interacting with the corresponding cleansing shrines located in Helos - the first area of Titan Quest. Alternatively, using the Cleansing Blessing shrine deactivates all curses at once.

So, what else do players get when they are cursed? Well, they can gain a currency called Electrum by killing monsters with active curses. This new currency can be transmuted into special orbs that give players some special gears.

Another thing worth mentioning in this update is the improved character window screen. A third tab has been added that shows additional stats, such as damage and duration bonuses, as well as monster race bonuses. Players can also learn more information by hovering over the icons.
