Developer OverBorder Studio and publisher Team17 have announced a slight delay for their Souls-like action RPG Thymesia; once set to be released on August 9, the development was pushed back nine days to a new release date of August 18 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC via Steam. The announcement was made over the game’s official Steam page, where the developers reasoned “community feedback from the recent Steam demo” as the main driving reason behind the delay.
Here’s the official community message from OverBorder Studio for Thymesia:
After listening to the community feedback from the recent Steam demo, we’ve made the difficult decision to push the launch date for Thymesia back by a few days to the 18th August. We are 100% committed to making Thymesia the best experience possible, and those few extra days allow us to do this by implementing changes and fixes that were asked for across all platforms.
OverBorder Studio did not elaborate on what the feedback was, although if it has caused a delay of fewer than two weeks, it is quite important not to overlook it at launch. The said demo is no longer available on the page, so players can only hope that the nine days of additional tinkering will help immensely as it approaches the new release date.
Thymesia made waves during its announcement as a unique Souls-like with a very challenging difficulty curve and atmospherically dark feel. Its main draw is the plague weapon system which allows the player character to harness the power of defeated bosses to wield deadly armaments. These plagued weapons can then be utilized against enemies, hinting that different enemies are weak to various kinds of plague weapons. Thymesia also features a mechanic that allows players to shift into a raven form during battle, utilizing the power of the plague.
Thymesia puts players into the enigmatic character known only as Corvus as they seek answers on their identity amid a plagued kingdom. Along the way, Corvus must eliminate various deformed enemies and over time piece together the mystery of who they truly are.
