Terraria arrives to the Switch June 27 Re-Logic

The wait is finally over as Terraria will be launched to the Nintendo Switch tomorrow, June 27. This was confirmed by no less than Re-Logic Community Manager Amanda "Safeman" Powell. The game remains limited to download via Nintendo eShop, as the team is still working on the physical retail version and needs "a bit more time" to release.

According to a forum post, Safeman said the team made the decision to release the game saying that "since the game is ready, we figured we would just get it into your hands as soon as possible." To celebrate this launch, Re-Logic intends to host daily events for prizes on Discord.

No price was revealed, but if the Wii version is any indication, it could be around $30 on Switch.

Terraria has recently been in the news when it was announced that rather than release update 1.3.6, Re-Logic instead released a fourth major update dubbed Terraria: Journey's End. With Journey's End, players can expect to find or craft at least 800 items. Aside from dropping a new update, it was revealed as well that the update would be free following the game's long-standing tradition of giving substantial content to the players and fans.

Journey's End features:

  • New foes to defeat and challenges to overcome as you seek fortune and glory.
  • A full revamp of world generation – including overall improvements and a handful of new mini-biomes to explore.
  • Quality of Life improvements from Block Swap to the Void Vault. These will ensure that the player spends more time doing what they enjoy most – and having more fun at the same time.
  • The addition of an in-game Bestiary. As players defeat higher numbers of any given foe, they will learn more about them – from key statistics to even what each foe can drop as loot!
  • The hallowed game of Golf to Terraria. Golf? That’s right, Golf. Trust us, it is insanely fun – so get your golf skills up to par now!
  • An all new difficulty mode. Beyond the existing Expert Mode, this is intended to be a true challenge for the most experienced and skilled Terrarians – a true gauntlet for the best of the best. Will your gaming skills and creativity be up to the task?
  • All new and enhanced weather effects.
