Panorama will be taking place in New York City this year after all, despite AEG Live getting shut down at the permit level after Queens Borough President Melinda Katz refused to give her support for the festival to take place in Queens unless the city government required AEG Live to meet with the community beforehand, according to the New York Daily News.

“Fencing off 200 acres in the center of Flushing Meadows Corona Park, which thousands of families consider their backyard, is vastly too big in size and scope,” said Katz spokeswoman Sharon Lee according to the New York Daily News. “[It] would have a devastating impact on the surrounding communities.”

The festival, which is named after the scale model of New York City located in the Queens Museum, will now be take place on Randall’s Island July 22-24, the same location as Governors Ball, June 3-5, and the EDM-centric festival Electric Zoo.

AEG Live is the festival organizer behind the massively popular Coachella music festival in Palm Springs and FYF Fest in L.A. AEG Live is credited for bringing out LCD Soundsystem out of retirement recently, announcing over the holidays they had managed to contract them and Guns N’ Roses to headline the 2016 Coachella festival.

Interestingly, when the LCD Soundsystem news first broke, Consequence of Sound reported that AEG Live had been planning to book LCD Soundsystem for Panorama.

It’s unknown if AEG Live is still planning to have LCD Soundsystem headline the New York City festival, but one thing is for certain. LCD Soundsystem will be either be playing Panorama or headlining their own concert in New York City, in addition to playing FYF Fest.
