Star Wars Battlefront 2 News Coming Next Week After Huge Leaks

Star Wars Battlefront 2 news arrives next week, according to two promotional tweets from the EA Star Wars Twitter account. The short message teases “all kinds of new info” in the days to come. As the game’s October open beta approaches, the publisher seems to be getting the hype train in motion.

If we had to guess, however, given that the beta begins as soon as Oct. 4, we imagine most of the revealed data will revolve around that testing period. More specifically, we’ll finally have official details with regard to what we should expect in terms of maps, modes and available heroes. A version of this information was leaked earlier this month, but we don’t yet know if it’s correct.

While multiplayer will be the focus of that event, we also wouldn't be surprised if we finally got to see some campaign gameplay too. After all, it was playable behind closed doors at E3 this June, so it’s about time the public got a look at a more polished version of that footage. Heroes seem equally ripe for reveals because those kinds of announcements can be made very quickly on social media and still receive lots of attention from fans.

Case in point, we expect next week to be a complete introduction of everything this package offers. That might mean a trailer or two, or it could be entirely conveyed through a series of blog posts. Whatever form the communication takes, it’s certainly nice to hear from the Battlefront 2 team again. Despite Battlefront 2’s high-profile Star Wars license, we haven’t seen too much of it in action. With around two months until release, this is the right time for the intense messaging to begin.

For those who’ve been following the game closely, however, the surprise nature of these reveals might be disrupted by the fact that a small group of reddit insiders, including the one referenced above, have been leaking what’s assumed to be credible information about the project. We won’t list everything here to avoid spoilers, but this thread in particular has all you need to know about heroes, ships, weapons, special characters, campaign missions and much more. With a major official news blast waiting in the wings, we’ll finally see how accurate some of those past claims are.

Unfortunately, with no specific dates mentioned in the tweets, there’s no telling when all this info will arrive. It’s possible that, similar to Activision’s Call Of Duty: WWII blast this week, EA will be dropping constant updates in small doses throughout the entire seven-day stretch.

Star Wars Battlefront 2 releases Nov. 17 for PS4, Xbox One and PC with a pre-order beta beginning Oct. 4 and public tests on Oct. 6.
