More than half a dozen games were shown during Electronic Arts annual E3 press conference, including a pair of new original IP, but few commanded more time or attention than Star Wars Battlefront 2 . We finally got an extensive look at the revamped multiplayer action from DICE’s next Star Wars shooter and an inside look at how the studio developed those changes. But the biggest news of the presentation might be the surprisingly consumer-friendly DLC schedule EA has planned for the Battlefront 2 community.

After making waves in the Battlefront community with his Twitter request for a campaign, in the then-unannounced sequel, John Boyega was recruited by EA and DICE to help out with the Battlefront 2 portion of this year’s press conference. And the actor didn’t just get to celebrate the addition of a single-player campaign with everyone else who’d been hoping such an offering ever since Battlefront hit PC and consoles in 2015. Boyega also confirmed all the post-launch downloadable content for the next Star Wars shooter will be made available to the community free of charge. Each wave of Battlefront 2 DLC will be themed, the first (coming this holiday season) will be based on the people and places seen in The Last Jedi . But future releases could be tied to previous films and/or the handful of Star Wars TV shows that aired in recent years.

As if the promise of free premium content and ongoing support wasn’t enough, Boyega also announced the first two characters we’ll see added to the Battlefront 2 roster. Few will be surprised to learn that Finn is joining Rey and Kylo Ren as representatives of the current Star Wars trilogy. And the trio will be joined by Captain Phasma; a villain many probably assumed dead after the events of The Force Awakens . But the silver-armored stormtrooper will be ready to hunt down enemies of the First Order -- and other incarnations of the Empire -- at some point after Battlefront 2 heads to PC and consoles this November. We don’t know how many planets from Episode VIII will be featured in the shooter. EA has confirmed we’ll get to fight on Crait, the planet where Luke and Rey meet. But at least there should be fewer complaints about the size of each DLC pack when the post-launch Battlefront 2 content heads to PSN, Xbox Live and Origin.

Star Wars Battlefront 2 is in development for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
