The Sony and Marvel Studios Spider-Man movie is set to release July 7, 2017, but with Peter Parker showing up in Captain America: Civil War in May, questions surrounding Spider-Man’s second reboot have begun to swirl.

And the latest news from the Spider-Man movie camp won’t temper rumors and speculation.

Entertainment Weekly caught up with Marvel Studios president, Kevin Feige, and the man behind the Marvel Cinematic Universe juggernaut told the publication that the plan is to have Spider-Man in Civil War, and for the MCU characters to appear in his standalone film.

“He is in the universe now, and the fun of the universe is that characters go back and forth,” Feige said.

To those who are unfamiliar with the Spider-Man at Marvel Studios journey, here’s a quick recap.

Before Marvel Studios was created and the studio began funding its own films, Marvel Comics licensed certain characters to other movie studios. The X-Men and Fantastic Four corners of the Marvel Universe were licensed to Fox while the Spider-Man property was licensed to Sony.

After the not-so-great showing of Amazing Spider-Man 2 and the Sony leaks that led to the head of the company resigning, the two companies made a deal to collaborate on a Spider-Man film.

And here we are at a point where Spider-Man now appears in a Marvel Studios film and a standalone movie with the care of the movie studio for the first time.

With Civil War still some time away, we won’t know what characters will appear in the Spider-Man movie, but since Peter Parker will be siding with Iron Man (whether that remains the case by the end of the movie is unknown) maybe we’ll get a Tony Stark cameo.

So what MCU characters do you want to to see in the Spider-Man reboot? Are you happy Peter Parker is being ingrained in the MCU? Sound off in the comments section below.
