There are a lot of things about Vintage Glamour to like: the globe, the classic Sims butler, the vanity, the windows and the new fur rug. What’s disappointing is this stuff pack leaves out hairstyles and clothing that could have made it feel more complete. On top of that, Vintage Glamour just has no zing. While the butler, globe and beauty table are cool objects, there’s no follow through with a variety of classic updos and old-school getups.

Vintage Glamour highlights three features: The vanity, the globe and butlers. However, none of those three things are in my list of few things I liked about the pack. And the objects that I did like, we already have plenty of in the game. The new wall-to-wall windows, fur rug, fireplace and metallic wallpaper stand out most. I do appreciate the two new bed options, since stuff packs have tended to lack in that department. The mirror, giraffe lamp and chandelier are also nice to have, but again, are all things that just seem to get lost while scrolling through objects.

Butlers have existed all throughout the Sims franchise, and I do like them. They’re great for big houses when it gets hard to clean up after your Sims. If you’re at work all the time, it can really make it easier for your Sims to build skills and do assignments instead of doing trivial tasks like cooking dinner and cleaning. But the vanity and globe don’t provide any depth to the game. I’d rather the globe spin and award Sims moodlets than serve drinks, and the only cool thing about the vanity is not having to go all the way to Create-A-Sim to adjust makeup. They are both interactive objects that will occupy you, and your Sim, for just a few moments.

Speaking of Create-A-Sim, the few items that were added are great, the styled looks for women in particular. The long white dress with gold accents and the flared pencil skirt are a long-needed addition to the pre-existing full-body outfits. The male outfit with suspenders pairs nicely with the new gold watch, dress shoes and round glasses. But no new beards and facial hair for men, and the absence of fancy updos with bows for women are a missed opportunity here. The one male hairstyle that was added doesn’t really stand out among the many other short styles already in the game. The real problem with the CAS additions wasn’t the items themselves, it was that there weren’t enough of them.

The overall problem is that Vintage Glamour doesn’t feel all that vintage, which would have been fine if the pack followed through with some rich gameplay objects and CAS items that popped. The only thing holding this pack together is the butler, the fireplace and one of those really nice dresses, which are dissapointing for the price.
