Vampires in the new Sims 4 game pack have special needs and skills mortal Sims don’t have. To level up and gain power points, it’s important to maintain Vampire Energy and master the 15 levels of the Vampire Lore Skill. Each of the five Vampire ranks have sub-levels. As you progress, new power perks will be unlocked until you reach Grand Master. However, just because you unlock all the powers doesn’t mean you can get them. You still have to keep collecting points for your Sim to earn a particular power. As you level up in the Lore Skill, you’ll be rewarded with tips and tricks to vampire life, such as growing plasma fruit and new ancient books that are crucial to earn power points and satisfy Vampire needs. To start, go to the computer and look up Vampire Secrets. Here is what each skill level unlocks:

Level 2: Vampire Tome- Purchase Encyclopedia Vampirica Volume 1.
Level 3: Order Plasma Packs- Buy under Vampire Secrets and use these to quench thirst without feeding on Sims.
Level 4: Make Plasma Packs- Use fish or frogs to create own. Look for frogs in logs and or catch fish in the river.
Level 5: Garlic Braids- Grow garlic to make braids, wreaths, and garlands. These make Vampires uncomfortable and less likely to use powers and drink plasma.
Level 6: Vampire Tome- Purchase Encyclopedia Vampirica Volume II
Level 7: Share Vampire Knowledge - Gives extra skill experience to lore meter.
Level 8: Order Seeds- Buy Plasma Fruit, Wolfsbane and Sixam Mosquito Trap seeds to make vampire drinks such as unlight Reversal Cocktail.
Level 9: Plasma Fruit Recipes- Plasma Fruit Salad (cooking) and the Plasma Jane drink (bar). These regenerate Vampire thirst.
Level 10: Vampire Tome- Purchase Encyclopedia Vampirica Volume III
Level 11: Sunlight Reversal Cocktail- Reduces fiery effects of Sunlight. It actually ends up giving the vampire some energy from the sun, instead of energy depletion.
Level 12: Vampire Resistance Cocktail- Reduces susceptibility to negative vampire powers.
Level 13: Vampire Tome- Buy the Ultimate Vampire Tome for $1,000.
Level 14: Draught of Reconfiguration- Reset all of their powers and keep their points. Requires 2 wolfsbane, 2 garlic, and 2 plasma fruit.
Level 15: Vampire Cure- Revert Vampire back to a regular mortal.

In addition to the Vampire Lore Skill, use your powers, feed and drink plasma to increase in rank. Dark Meditation is one of the first ways you can start practicing. Self-click to access the option. You’ll also have the ability to show off your powers to other Vampires and once you choose a power, use it on another Sim. When meeting another Vampire, there’s the option to Spar under friendly interaction. If you meet an Elder Vampire, requesting training is another way to increase Vampire skills. Here are the requirements to level up to Grand Master.

In order to increase in skill level and gain power points, you must know how to fulfill a Vampire’s needs. They are different than the average Sim. There are five Vampire need bars: Energy, Thirst, Social, Hygiene and Fun. Thirst and Energy are the most important. If a Vampire is thirsty, they become uncomfortable and have a harder time doing Vampire things, because the thirst overrides all emotions. Ask a Sim nicely to feed on a small or large amount of their plasma. Beware: If you take too much, the Sim may collapse. Feeding isn’t exactly socially acceptable, so other Sims may react negatively and most certainly will if you feed on them without permission. Using Vampire Powers to feed has a cooldown period and you may not be able to feed on them for a while after. The Eternally Welcome power perk could come in handy because you can enter Sims houses and wake them up to feed on them. In order to avoid the hassle of feeding, you’ll want to keep increasing the Vampire Lore skill to learn more about Plasma packs as a substitute.

Going out in the sunlight and using Vampire powers will deplete the Vampire Energy bar faster for some Vampires than others, depending on their powers and weaknesses. Once your energy bar is exhausted when out in daylight, the vampire will die. One of the first inherent abilities of a vampire is to hibernate in a coffin, which freezes the vampires’ needs as they sleep. Dark Meditation is another way to preseve Vampire enegy and negate thirst urges. It’s one of the actions even low-level vampires can do and it also helps gain vampire experience points. Choosing your powers and weaknesses wisely is one way to calm powerful thirst urges and protect from sunlight. Check our Vampire Powers guide for the best strategies to preserve Vampire energy, resist the affect of sunlight and become a Grand Master faster.
