Love wins! EA

It looks like love wins again. Russian players of The Sims 4 can breathe a sigh of relief with the announcement of the My Wedding Stories game pack coming to the region.

Before we look into what led to that decision, let's take a quick look back at what happened. Early this month, it was revealed that a new game pack titled My Wedding Stories. It allowed players to have their Sims go through the whole process, making the proposal, getting the "Yes," planning for the big day, and celebrating the wedding day.

The highlight of the game pack was the introduction of Dominique and Camille. They were added to the game because according to the development team, their love story is a good reflection of the experience that many players in the community have. Exciting as that love story is, there's a problem. Not all countries accept such relationships.

Russia, in particular, has a law that bans the distribution of "propaganda of non-traditional sexual relationships" among minors. This resulted in the team deciding between moving forward with the full release or making changes to the content so that it meets the requirements under Russian law. In the end, the team decided not to release it in Russia.

What happened between then and now? In a post, the Sims Team revealed that they have "been listening to the outpouring of feelings" coming from the community, which not only support the team's decision but also concern for their fellow community members. The team said that it was important for them to stand by their values like standing against homophobia and sharing similar stories for those who want and need it most.

Considering all of the different feedback, the team shared that they reassessed their options and realized that they can actually do more than what was initially believed. As a result, the My Wedding Stories game pack is heading to Russia, unaltered and unchanged, and features Dom and Cam.

Indeed, love wins! What do you think?

The Sims 4 is available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
