A new season of Rainbow Six Siege Pro League has kicked off in North America and the EU and, as we expected, there are new teams joining the fray. But beyond new contenders, we're also introduced to some new map picks and new strats.
Over the seasons, it's clear Clubhouse, Chalet, and Oregon are the most picked maps in Pro Leagues, and while it's still exciting to see how teams evolve strats at tried and true objectives, we'd be lying if we said were weren't a little tired of seeing the same old maps over and over again.
Enter Playing Ducks, who decisively won their first match against veteran team Vitality at Consulate to bring the second half of the game at Japan's Skyscraper map. Playing Ducks plays defense in its first round and we already see the shapings of a really strong BBQ, Kitchen meta.
Countering a second floor push, Playing Ducks gamer snoOken sets up Geisha for his defense and manages to create a wicked kill hole that pierces through a total of three walls to connect the back corner of the Geisha room all the way to the far window inside Tea Room. It's a nasty angle and if any attacker dares push from above, snoOken's angle can not only feed a lot of intel for his teammates, but make a window breach completely uncontestable.
While Vitality ultimately didn't push from Tea Room, snoOken created a second kill hole through the hatch that appears to look through to the kitchen below. the sophistication of the angle certainly makes it attractive and we wouldn't be surprised if we saw similar kill holes made in ranked matches across the country to come.
Despite Playing Ducks' cleverness, we noticed a blindspot in the team's defense as Vitality pushed a Balcony attack on round three. With control on balcony door and side stairwell, Vitality was then able to rotate in to contest the objective.
