The two Rainbow Six Siege esports leagues UK Ireland Nationals (UKIN) and Nordic Championship have been combined to form the Northern Premier League. This revamped league hopes to gather all the best teams and players from the UKIN and Nordic local scenes for a new tournament with a prize pool of 25,000 euros (around $27,400).

The Northern Premier League has 10 teams competing for nine weeks from April 19 toward the end of August 2022. For each week, there will be two days of broadcast - on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

At the end of the season, the top two teams qualify for the European Challenger League. It is here where different teams from around Europe compete with the hopes of being promoted to the European League, considered the highest level of competitive Rainbow Six Siege in the region.

Going back to the Northern Premier League, the middle four teams retain their place. Meanwhile, the teams in the seventh and eighth positions are placed in the relegation playoffs. Finally, the bottom two are automatically relegated to their respective local league.

In a statement, Ubisoft UK Marketing Director Mark Slaughter shared that they are excited to bring this new esports competition to UK, Ireland, and Nordic players. He went on to say that hopefully, this new tier can help further develop both local scenes from grassroots to the Northern Premier League and then to the European Challenger League.

Meanwhile, Ubisoft Nordic Managing Director Peter Weile revealed that the game has slowly been becoming one of the world’s most popular esports games. He added that this new league can help expose the game to even more people.
