Rainbow Six Siege Mexico Major just concluded its second day of groups. The matches are played in a double round-robin format. This allows every team to play against each other twice.

Group A

CYCLOPS Athlete Gaming vs. Team oNe eSports

The match between these two teams was played on Oregon, which is a defender-sided map. Team oNe banned Clash and Montagne because they were scared of CAG’s ability to make plays with those shield operators. CAG started on defense and destroyed their opponents by taking five rounds in the first half. This resulted in a 5-1 split in favor of CAG. Since the map is defender-sided, everyone expected oNe to dominate on defense. However, after the side switch, CAG didn’t give their opponents any room to get an advantage and finished the game by winning two rounds. CAG won the match with a 7-2 scoreline.

BDS Esports vs. Team oNe eSports

This match was played on Coastline, which favors teams who like to play more aggressively. Both these teams are good at taking gunfights and aggressive plays. BDS started out on defense and was able to counter oNe’s attack with ease. BDS won four rounds in the first half, which resulted in a 4-2 split. After the side switch, oNe went for an assertive play even on defense. Team oNe was winning the majority of gunfights and this put pressure on BDS when it came down to the final few seconds. Team oNe then started building up momentum and destroyed BDS by winning five rounds. Team oNe won the game with a 7-3 scoreline.

Group B

Natus Vincere vs. Spacestation Gaming

This match was played on Villa, which is a defender-sided map. The Thatcher ban from SSG makes it harder for the attackers to open walls. SSG started out on defense and only won three rounds, which isn’t good considering the map favors defensive plays. The first half resulted in a 3-3 split. After the side switch, SSG started to coordinate better and allowed them to win rounds over Na'Vi. For every mistake Na'Vi makes, SSG would capitalize on it and then execute. SSG won the game with a 7-5 scoreline.
