Ubisoft revealed Prince of Persia: Sands of Time remake in the second Ubisoft Presentation in September this year. The game is said to be a remake of the original Sands of Time from the ground up. The game was originally planned to release in January 2021 but was moved to March 18, 2021.
Why is the Game Delayed?
Ubisoft Czech first broke down the unfortunate news on their Facebook page, but the post was later deleted. Their official Twitter followed a confirmation stating that the game is delayed as "2020 has been a year like no other". So, the developer needed more time to work on the game. Despite being a franchise that is loved by fans, Prince of Persia: Sands of Time remake did not receive warm reactions from fans. Many criticized the game for its underwhelming aesthetics. This was the negative response to the game's announcement trailer. In turn, Ubisoft tried explaining to fans that the developer was going for a more artistic style while developing the game.
Could Ubisoft be Improving the Game's Visuals?
Due to early criticism, Ubisoft may consider enhancing the game's visuals. Yet the game's delay is only two months. It may be an arduous task to rework visual elements, like models, textures, and animations.
While the graphics rework is uncertain, the developer revealed some insights. First, the game will include all-new animations taken via motion capture. Next, the original voice actor for Prince, Yuri Lowenthal, will return to work on the game. And unlike the previous Prince of Persia games, the Sands of Time remake will use Ubisoft's Anvil engine. It is the same engine used to build the popular Assassin's Creed games.
We are hoping that the time bought by Ubisoft will be used to polish the game to give us the Prince of Persia we have always remembered.
Prince of Persia: Sands of Time remake estimated release date is on March 18, 2021.
