Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield announced new features that players are sure to be excited about. This was all revealed during the Nintendo Direct broadcast on September 4.
The game takes place in the Galar region. This is a land where people and Pokémon have managed to find a way to work together towards a more prosperous future. In this game you get to meet new people and even encounter new Pokémon.
So what features are coming to Pokémon Sword and Shield?
Customize your Appearance
Like in previous games of the franchise, you can customize your look before starting the game. You get to choose what outfit to wear. However, this time it is not limited to simply tops and bottoms. Now you can choose a wide range of outfits that include outerwear and gloves. It's not only about the outfits, as you can change hairstyle and even put on a little make-up.
In essence, if you want to win, you have to look the part.
Pokémon Camp
While exploring the region, there is a chance you get tired and need to take a breather. For Pokémon Sword and Shield, you can set-up your Pokémon camp anywhere. While at camp, you can play with your Pokémon in order to get to know them better and at the same time improve their battle prowess.
It's not just about you though, as other players can also set-up camp. You can bring along one Pokémon and hang out with three other players at the camp. You can even interact with the Pokémon at the camp of other players.
Curry on Rice
What do you do at camp aside from bonding with your Pokémon? The most obvious thing is to eat. However, you don't cook just any food. It's all about the curry. Depending on what Berries and ingredients you add to your pot, you can create curries of many different flavors. You can even put your heart into the cooking and serve a truly delicious plate of curry.
Just remember that in order to cook the curry right, you need to make sure that the flames are strong enough and also stir the pot in just the right way.
There are different types of curry to cook and you can then put it in your Curry Dex.
New Pokémon
Finally the game is going to add new Pokémon. During the Nintendo Direct broadcast, two such Pokémon were introduced. One of these is the Ghost-type Pokémon called Polteageist. Its ability is known as Weak Armor. Meanwhile its body is made from black tea and is said to have a very distinct aroma and flavor. If the Polteageist trusts its Trainer enough, it can give some of its tea to the trainer.
Another new Pokémon is Cramorant. This is a Flying/Water type Pokémon. Its ability is Gulp Missile and is triggered during battles. After the Cramorant dives or surfs, it returns with a catch in its mouth. However, if it receives damage while in this state, it retaliates by spitting its catch out.
Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield are available beginning November 15.
