Pokémon GO Guide: Here's How You Can Validate Your Pokémon Trainer Club Account

It was last year when the Pokémon Trainer Club (PTC) went live in Pokémon GO. The PTC is a service where trainers get to connect to other Pokémon games and apps. It also let them get the Pokémon news and even compete in live competition.

Back in November, Niantic made changes on how trainers would log in to the service. As a way of enticing trainers to do more, those who validate or link their PTC account get to receive Timed Research which offer a Super Incubator and 1,000 Stardust as rewards. Those who already connected their PTC accounts to Pokémon GO immediately get the research and its rewards. Today we'll look into how validate and link an existing PTC account.

Validating the Account

To validate their PTC account, all players need to do is follow these steps:

  1. Open the Pokémon GO app.
  2. Tap the Main Menu button.
  3. Tap the Settings button in the top-right corner.
  4. Tap Account.
  5. Tap the Validate button under the Linked Accounts section.
  6. Follow the prompts to log in to the PTC account linked to the Niantic Profile.

By the way, it's important to remember that the PTC account used to validate has to match the account linked with the Niantic Profile.

Trainers who logged in to their PTC account using the new method may not see the option to validate. Instead, what they may see is that their Pokémon Trainer Club account has been listed as linked. If this happens, the Timed Research should automatically be completed and the rewards can be claimed immediately.

Linking an Account

For those who already have a PTC account and wants to link it to Pokémon GO, here are the steps to follow:

  1. Create a PTC account at club.pokemon.com.
  2. Open the Pokémon GO app.
  3. Tap the Main Menu button.
  4. Tap the Settings button in the top-right corner.
  5. Tap Account.
  6. Tap the Link button under the Linked Accounts section.
  7. Follow the prompts to log in to the PTC account.

By the way, the Timed Research mentioned here ends January 31, 2024, at 11:59 p.m. local time. Be sure to validate those account and claim the rewards. Pokémon GO is available to download free for mobile platforms via Google Play and App Store.
