Nintendo and The Pokémon Company's upcoming "Pokémon Champions" is coming very soon to deliver its special take on a strategy arena battling showdown among trainers on the Switch platform.

The game is set to deliver a new fighting game experience set in the "Pokémon" franchise, with players getting the chance to step into the battle arenas similar to what the anime franchise depicts.

'Pokémon Champions' Release Date Is Close

Developer The Pokémon Works and publisher Nintendo are gearing up for a massive release coming next month as the battle-focused arena strategy game from the franchise is releasing for everyone to play.

"Pokémon Champions" is set to release on April 8 for the entire world to download and start playing on their handheld consoles.

"Pokémon Champions" is coming to all Switch platforms, including the Switch V1, Switch V2, Switch Lite, Switch OLED, and the present-gen Switch 2 console.

The game will also be available to download and play for free, apart from an optional paid Starter Pack bundle that will give Pokémons, as well as an easier way to obtain Pokémon and training items.

What to Expect From 'Pokémon Champions'

The game's new fighting format is similar to what players see in trainer, gym, and online battles present in previous games like "Pokémon Scarlet and Violet."

This focuses on the turn-based gameplay that has been the longest battle format in the franchise.

Surprisingly, it moved away from the real-time battle format that "Pokémon Legends: Z-A" and other RPGs introduced. That said, players will be able to Mega Evolve Pokémons here via the Omni Ring.

'Pokémon Champions' will feature three modes, including Ranked, Casual, and Private Battles, and two Battle Formats, Single Battle and Double Battle. Ranked Battles will give players Victory Points (VP), which can be used to power up and train a user's team.

Players will be able to transfer their favorite battle creatures to "Pokémon Champion" via Pokémon Home, but there are some games where they will not be able to withdraw them from "Champions." Refer to the chart below to learn more.
