Blizzard released a new update for Overwatch's Experimental Mode, which is live on PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. The main objective of this upcoming Experimental Mode change is to buff/nerf a number of characters' abilities and to see how the players respond.

Blizzard nerfed Ana’s Sleep Dart time duration as she is already a pretty strong healing character who can heal teammates at range. They also buffed one of the most annoying characters, Mei. Her Endothermic Blaster, which allows her to freeze her opponents, has lowered its duration. This will allow Mei to freeze opponents faster.

EXPERIMENTAL MODE

The next experiment begins! This time we're hoping to get your feedback on some balance updates. We're using the 2-2-2 Role Queue ruleset so that you can get a feel for how these balance changes might affect the live game.

HERO UPDATES (ONLY IN EXPERIMENTAL)

Ana

Sleep Dart

  • Sleep duration lowered from 6 to 5 seconds

Brigitte

Shield Bash

  • Stun duration lowered from 0.75 to 0.65 seconds

Mei

Endothermic Blaster (Primary Fire)

  • Freeze stun duration lowered from 1.5 to 1.3 seconds

Blizzard

  • Duration lowered from 5 to 4.25 seconds

McCree

Flashbang

  • Stun duration lowered from 0.85 to 0.7 seconds

Reinhardt

Earthshatter

  • Knockdown duration lowered from 3 to 2.5 seconds

Roadhog

Whole Hog

  • Knockback increased 20%

Sigma

Accretion

  • Knockdown duration is now a fixed 0.8 second instead of scaling with distance
  • Cast time reduced from 0.75 to 0.65 seconds
