Overwatch 2: Blizzard Enables Controversial Aim Assist Feature in Crossplay

Blizzard released a new update for Overwatch 2 recently and it is a pretty controversial one, to say the least. That’s because the company has now enabled Aim Assist in PC-Console crossplay.

Before anything, aim assist is a feature that helps controller users aim better by making the crosshair move more accurately once it has “snapped” onto a target.

That said, aim assist is now enabled in Overwatch 2 Crossplay, a godsend for those who play on consoles.

According to the dev team, they have found that console players are opting into a bad time when they play with their friends on PC, especially since the mouse and keyboard combo is regarded as the “more accurate” choice when playing such games.

For this reason, they have decided to enable aim assist in all matches except for Competitive. It is worth noting that this is only applicable to those playing Overwatch 2 on consoles, meaning PC players will not receive the same benefit even if they’re using controllers on the said platform.

The game’s latest patch has also rolled out the audio transcription feature for PC players in select countries. This feature creates audio transcriptions from temporary voice chat recordings, which will help the devs impose sanctions on bad actors. This is part of their ongoing “Defense Matrix” initiative to keep the game as toxic-free as possible.
