There is a seemingly endless supply of iPhone cases on the market, but the OtterBox Statement Series is unique in that it is the company’s first iPhone exclusive case. The Statement Series is available as of Wednesday at Apple retail stores worldwide, at Apple.com and OtterBox.com. The new cases are available for the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6s, selling for $39.95 as well as the iPhone 6 Plus and iPhone 6s Plus, selling for $49.95.
“Phones have become such an accessory piece,” Jordan Vater, senior public relations specialist at OtterBox told iDigitalTimes. “People have decided they want to be seen with whatever they design to invest their money in.”
The OtterBox Statement Series features a clear polycarbonate back with a leather accent at the bottom, which gives it a touch of minimalist style. The cases are OtterBox’s thinnest and lightest to date. Its design also pays homage to the look and feel of the original iPhone.
Still, users can rest easy knowing the Statement Series cases have the same protection quality, for which OtterBox is known. The cases have the OtterBox Certified Drop+ Protection seal, which means they have passed more than 24 tests and have been subjected to more than 238 hours of testing.
“That’s the idea behind it. Even though it’s thin it’s still an OtterBox,” Vater said.
Though OtterBox is often associated with its big bulky Defender and Commuter Series cases, the manufacturer is now looking to show a variety in design and protection for smartphones.
“[We’re showing how] we’ve been changing that perception over the last year and moving into a lot more sleek, streamlined type cases,” Vater said.
For Android users, the Symmetry Series has become a popular option for thin and light smartphone cases. OtterBox has worked with designers including Nina Garcia, to create funky and artistic looks for the Symmetry Series.
“One of the things that OtterBox does that other companies don’t is cover a really wide variety of devices,” Vater said.
The Symmetry Series is available for many Android devices, including those from Samsung and LG and as well as for Microsoft and Apple devices.
