'No Man's Sky' DLC News: Free Or Paid? Possibly Both

No Man's Sky will have free DLC, but will it also have paid DLC? Hello Games

No Man’s Sky will definitely get DLC updates in the future, there’s no questions about that. The real mystery is if these DLC packs will be free or not. According to a recent interview with Daily Star Online, developer Hello Games still isn’t sure.

Sean Murray, the creator of No Man’s Sky , mentioned he was “perhaps naive” in suggesting there will be no paid DLC for the massive exploration game. While most of the DLC is planned to be free for right now, Murray doesn’t want to rule out a possibility of needing extra cash for a bigger project.

"Maybe in the future there’s some reason why we just couldn’t possibly afford to do a certain feature without charging for it," Murray told Daily Star Online.

Murray also teased some features coming in future updates, mentioning "the ability to build bases and own giant space freighters."

As for other interesting tidbits, the same interview had Murray slyly dancing around the question of an Xbox One version of No Man’s Sky being a possibility. He didn’t seem positive on what he was allowed to say, and made sure he was "very specific with [his] words." The Daily Star article mentions a Sony rep pushing the interview along after this, forcing a change of topic.

That being said, Murray has also gotten some heat recently from dancing around topics like multiplayer, so he might be trying to cover himself from articles just like this, speculating on what he means with what he says.

So what do you think? Will we be getting paid DLC for No Man’s Sky at some point? Do you think an Xbox One version will be coming? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
