According to The Wall Street Journal, analysts expect Nintendo to reveal details about its upcoming NX console by early October, as opposed to September as some outlets had previously reported.

The latest rumors about the Nintendo NX are that the Nintendo NX controllers will support both basic motion control and “advanced vibration force feedback.” Sources had earlier confirmed to Eurogamer that the Nintendo NX will be a portable console with detachable controllers.

With mobile game Super Mario Run coming to iOS during this holiday season, the spotlight’s on Nintendo:

Niantic Inc and Nintendo affiliate Pokemon Co’s Pokémon Go app has been downloaded over 500 million times globally. Tokyo-based game consultant Serkan Toto predicts that Super Mario Run will be downloaded at least one billion times. The spillover effect and publicity should also help move the new Nintendo NX, as sales in Japan of the 3DS as well as 3DS Pokémon games increased after all the to-do over Pokémon Go.

Nintendo has said the Nintendo NX will go on sale by March 2017, and the console will be a dual-use machine designed for both the living room and on-the-go gaming.

In related news, Sony has introduced the Playstation 4 Slim and the PS4 Pro. Microsoft also has a lot of buzz around its Xbox One S and Xbox Scorpio. With Sony’s 40 million units of PS4 to Nintendo’s 13 million units of Wii U, Nintendo has a long way to go in sales. But if design specs are anything to go by, Nintendo will at least write a new chapter in its history of innovation.
