Next 'Overwatch' Character Might Be Efi Oladele, An 11-Year-Old Girl From Numbani With A Drone

Blizzard might have just dropped a major hint about the next Overwatch hero. A new post on the Overwatch blog introduces Efi Oladele, an 11-year-old girl with an eye for electronics.

Efi Oladele is a master at robotics and has just earned the “Adawe Foundation's prestigious ‘genius grant.’” She plans on building something with the money, most likely a robot or drone. Her parents are taking her on a trip to celebrate, and I expect something bad might happen along the way. Every hero needs a reason to fight, but I’m hoping hers won’t be too tragic.

It seems unlikely that Blizzard would allow the next Overwatch hero to be a preteen, but anything is possible. My money's on her building a drone that can be operated remotely, maybe a crazy, flying robot or an omnic with a human at the controls. Maybe OR15, a robot mentioned in Eli's interview.

Numbani is going to be the centerpiece of the next event, there’s no doubt about it now. After the last PTR update, fans found files for the payload broken, leading to mass speculation about Doomfist. Turns out, we were way off base. What I would love more than anything, is for Efi Oladele to build a crazy robot that wields the Doomfist gauntlet.

Even Overwatch's Senior Game Designer, Jeremy Craig, tweeted about the news. It seems pretty likely that Eli is going to be either our next hero, or heavily involved in it's creation. Maybe Athena finally gets a body?
