New World: Update 1.0.1 Adds Adjustments to Game's AFK Prevention System

New World Update 1.0.1 Amazon Game Studios

New World has become quite popular just a few weeks after launch. However, the game is far from polished, and folks at Amazon Game Studios are doing what they can to improve things. That said, Update 1.01 added some adjustments to the existing AFK prevention system. It also introduced numerous bug fixes, so read on to find out more.

AFK Prevention

Because of the massive number of players trying the game, the servers got bombarded, which led to long queue times. When players finally get in, they do not want to log out simply because they don’t want to wait that long again.

Some would resort to just leaving their characters parked in the game as they do other things. As such, it prevented others from logging in. So, the developers have applied adjustments to the AFK prevention system. These are:

  • Added additional AFK prevention to ensure players cannot fool the existing system with simulated mouse movement.
  • Shortened the AFK warning message from 20 minutes to 15 minutes.
  • Shortened the AFK disconnect from 25 minutes to 20 minutes.

Also, the devs added a confirmation message when a player attempts to leave the login queue. This is to prevent them from leaving the queue accidentally.

Game Fixes

Some noteworthy bug fixes are implemented in Update 1.0.1. First, the issue where players are asked to claim achievement titles when logging in, even though they already claimed the rewards, will no longer be a bother.

Besides that, players who have a hard time completing the “Something to Prove” quest due to the slow respawn rate of Overseer Zane will be happy to know that the NPC spawns quicker now.

Here are some highlights of the patch:

GENERAL FIXES
  • Fixed a rare issue causing the interact key to not properly function on various objects in the world
  • Fixed an issue causing leg animations to freeze
  • Fixed game crashes related to the New World Twitch integrations
AI FIXES
  • Fixed an issue causing enemies to spawn slower than intended in the Bullrush Wash POI
  • Fixed an issue causing Overseer Zane to respawn slower than intended in the "Something to Prove" quest
QUEST FIXES
  • Added missing journal information about the recommended quest level for players attempting to unlock the second faction rank
  • Fixed an issue where completing the "Strength of the Earth" quest prevents the player from obtaining the "Fading Lights" and "Azure Tears" quests
  • Fixed an issue where completing the "Facets of Light and Darkness" quest prevents the player from obtaining the "Descent to Frosted Slumber" and "Transmuting Iron to Dust" quests
