New clips from Star Wars Rebels Season 3 debuted this week in anticipation of the premiere this Saturday, Sept. 24 at 8:30 p.m. on Disney XD.

The first clip from the Season 3 premiere reveals just how much Ezra has fallen under the influence of the Sith holocron recovered with the help of Darth Maul at the end of Season 2. The evil influence is growing on him, worming its way into Ezra’s mind via very familiar path: pride and fear.

Ezra is both convinced of his power and fearful for his friends, the same potent combination of frailties that undid Anakin Skywalker in the Prequel Trilogy. In an interview with Slashfilm, Star Wars Rebels creator Dave Filoni explained just how far he’d be willing to push Ezra, saying, “You can kill off characters. You can turn them [to the darkside] if it serves the story.”

Can Ezra rebuke the Dark Side — as Luke Skywalker did in the throne room of the Emperor — or could Star Wars Rebels be the tragic story of a promising padawan’s fall?

The other clip released from Star Wars Rebels Season 3 features Grand Admiral Thrawn, a popular character from the Star Wars Legends novels (author Timothy Zahn created him in Heir to the Empire) who will be reintroduced into Star Wars canon in this season of Rebels.

His voice is appropriately British and unctuous:

So will Star Wars Rebels Season 3 feature Thrawn and evil Ezra teaming up to systematically kill the rebel crew of Ghost? We’ll find out Saturday at 8:30 p.m., when Star Wars Rebels returns.
