Monster Hunter World: Iceborne released an update that introduces new monsters and even a new region. In addition to this second free title update, Monster Hunter also revealed new information on the collaboration quests with Horizon Zero Dawn: The Frozen Wilds.

New Features

Players may already be familiar with the Zinogre and its lightning attacks. This time around, a more vicious variant is charging into the fight and now brings with it a dragon elemental. For those who want to take down the Stygian Zinogre, they need to bring their A-game and come up with a strategy. Defeating this amped up beast rewards you with valuable materials to craft new, powerful equipment.

Arriving as well with the update is the new Tundra Region, which expands the Guiding Lands end-game locale even further with a snowy landscape. This region is home to monsters like Barioth and Viper Tobi-Kadachi. So why would players even venture to this region? Well, special materials exclusive this region can be used to increase the maximum level for weapon augmentation. By the way, did we mention that not only does this region have the Stygian Zinogre, but also the Tempered Ruiner Nergigante?

Defender Weapons

The update has good news for console players. For those playing the main story in Monster Hunter: World, the new Defender Weapons for all the 14 weapon types are now available. These weapons can be forged at the Smithy
and are upgradable in order to become even more valuable, especially for those currently playing World. Combined with the Guardian Armor set and the Hunter Helper feature, new players can look forward to getting through the base World rather
quickly to access Iceborne with its massive content.

Collaboration

Monster Hunter World: Iceborne revaled that the second round of its collaboration with Horizon Zero Dawn: The Frozen Wilds will release on December 12 at 7:00 p.m. EST. Note that this is only for PlayStation 4 players, as Horizon Zero Dawn is a PS4-exclusive game.

Thes new collaboration quests give players a chance to craft all-new themed equipment fashioned after the Shield-Weaver armor in Horizon Zero Dawn: The Frozen Wilds. Players can also upgrade the Stormslinger weapon from the previous November quest. Palico companions can also get special gear designed after Frostclaws, the bear-like machines found in Horizon Zero Dawn: The Frozen Wilds.

The third round of exclusive collaboration quests for PS4 players is going to be available starting at 7:00 p.m. EST on December 26. For this new event quest, players are rewarded with special materials to craft the new Banuk α+ armor set. Iceborne players also get an opportunity to upgrade Aloy’s Bow and craft new Felyne Watcher equipment, which was originally available in Monster Hunter: World, with Master Rank level stats.
