The NES Classic Edition console is one of the hottest video game commodities today. It was almost impossible to get a console when they were first released in November and pre-orders through Amazon were sold out as well.

However, it seems that those looking for an NES Classic before Christmas may have to head over to Toys R Us.

In an interview with CNBC, a Toys R Us representative said the upcoming weekend will see a restock of the highly sought-after console.

"On Sunday, we're launching our Great Big Christmas Sale (Dec. 4 thru 10) and the catalog, which is arriving in homes in the coming days, features Hatchimals and NES," a spokeswoman with Toys R Us told CNBC. "Our stores are receiving shipments of both holiday must-haves to support and we expect that when stores open at 8 a.m., they will sell very quickly."

The “they will sell very quickly” part is no joke, as stock for the NES Classic console went quickly. It seems Nintendo has misjudged demand for the lightweight nostalgia box.

CNBC reached out to a Target representative to comment on whether consumers should expect a Mini NES restock soon, but company reps did not commit to a date or whether they will actually get a restock of the NES Classic.

"Target is actively working to meet guest demand, and will continue to replenish inventory throughout the season," a spokesman for Target told CNBC.

With this new information, potential buyers should check Toys R Us over the next week to see if more Mini NES consoles are available. Also, if you’re in the New York City area, the Nintendo NY store has seen a steady influx of the NES Classic. Keep checking with the official Nintendo NY Twitter account to find out when they get more in stock.
