'Monster Hunter Wilds' Fans Slam Capcom Over Persistent Performance Issues

The "Monster Hunter Wilds" fans were quick to issue a surge of negative reviews.

"Monster Hunter Wilds," which was previously praised for its expansive world and dramatic monster fights, is now under a whirlwind of backlash from veteran fans.

Just when the "Final Fantasy XIV" raid boss came, fans criticized Capcom for bringing the game's subpar performance and optimization on PC.

Players Turn Against 'Monster Hunter Wilds'

The "Final Fantasy XIV" crossover arrived last week, but the party was short-lived. Over 5,000 new Steam reviews have poured in since the update, with a staggering nearly 80% negative rating. What is most astonishing is that numerous reviews are written by dedicated "Monster Hunter" enthusiasts who previously complimented the series.

Gamers are expressing their discontent not with the gameplay itself but with Capcom's inability to address ongoing problems that have marred the game since it was released eight months prior. From on-screen crashes at random to uneven frame rates, "Monster Hunter Wilds" fans insist it is "unoptimized and unstable."

"Game is enjoyable but totally overshadowed by the tech issues, which have been present since launch day," one angry player wrote.

Fans Complain of Large PC Performance Issues

Some users assert that every new update degrades the stability of the game. Even high-end players, using RTX 4090 GPUs and Ryzen 7950X3D CPUs, experience stutters, crashes, and lower frame rates. Others complain that the visual realism of the game is unimpressive compared to the stylistic appeal of previous entries like Monster Hunter World.

PC Gamer spotted a comment where the reviewer said his PC is running well, but even on max settings, the overworld looks blurry and uninspired.

"I'd prefer the artistic direction of older titles over the forced realism this one fails to deliver."

The "Final Fantasy XIV" boss battle, which ought to have been the highlight, has instead contributed to the frustration. Players refer to it as "unbalanced" and "poorly implemented," alleging the challenge is unfair because of lag spikes and bugs throughout the fight.

Capcom then moved to respond to the criticism with a "multifaceted plan" to address the game's technical issues. The publisher confirmed that Free Title Update 4, which will release this winter, will see significant CPU and GPU optimizations followed by a second wave of fixes.
