During the EA Play presentation at E3 2017, EA Sports presented a brand new story mode for Madden 18 called Long Shot that will bring a new experience to gamers.
The new Madden 18 story mode trailer showed a lot and yet didn’t reveal too much. The first things we noticed was that you’ll be playing as a young football player who comes from the small town of Mathis, Texas but the official Madden 18 website has a lot more information.
But before we get into that, check out the Long Shot story mode coming to Madden 18 below.
The story of Madden 18 puts you in the shoes of Devin Wade (played by JR Lemon), a former high school standout who has been away from the game for three years. But events during the story will bring Wade to the cusp of the NFL.
Will he be able to get his name called during the NFL Draft?
You’ll make your way through high school and college before making it to the NFL but you’ll get some flashbacks of your character’s upbringings, his relationships with coaches, family and friends.
Mahershala Ali is a notable character in the Madden 18 ’s Longshot story playing Cutter Wade, Devin’s father who was once a great athlete who dedicated his life to Devin and their shared passion for football.
Colt Cruise (played by Scott Porter) is a happy-go-lucky jokester and a fiercely loyal friend who cares about Devin’s shot in the NFL as much as his own. We see some shots of the two friends through their ups and downs.
NFL hall of famer, Dan Marino will also appear in Madden 18 ’s Longshot story as Devin’s mentor and the official Madden site says that Marino doesn’t always play by the rules. It would seem that you will control Devin Wade in-game as a quarterback.
It’s teased that your decisions may affect gameplay but it wasn’t made clear by the trailer or the information on the official Madden website but Player.One will be at E3 2017 and will update this story as soon as more information comes.
EA also revealed a brand new game mode for NBA Live 18 called The One that allows for players to play in the NBA and on the streets.
FIFA 18 will see the return of Hunter in The Journey game mode. However, the Nintendo Switch version of FIFA 18 will not see the The Journey mode but will have every other game mode (both off and online) on the Switch.
Madden 18 is coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC and Nintendo Switch.
