Thanks to the bloody trailer for Logan we already know the general plot contours of the third Wolverine movie. The future sucks and mutants are dying out. Logan’s famed healing factor ain’t what it used to be; he’s shaky and scars are sticking around. Professor X is bedridden and encourages Logan to protect a young mutant from the paramilitary forces pursuing her.

But now, Hugh Jackman has laid it out — all official-like — for us. On Friday Jackman tweeted an official synopsis for Logan that adds some key details emphasizing the Western flavor and grim future of this dark timeline.

“In the near future, a weary Logan cares for an ailing Professor X in a hide out on the Mexican border. But Logan’s attempts to hide from the world and his legacy are up-ended when a young mutant arrives, being pursued by dark forces.”

Something tells me Professor X (Patrick Stewart) won’t be sticking around for the duration in this one. How many times do I have to watch that dude die?

Logan will be out in theaters March 3.
