The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening is now officially available for purchase. The game can be bought both in stores and the Nintendo eShop. With this, the game is now part of the lineup of games that can be played on any Switch system.

This game is a reimagining of one of the most beloved games in the Zelda series. In Link's Awakening, Link has washed ashore on a mysterious island that has been filled with colorful, yet strange inhabitants. In order to return home, Link needs to explore Koholint Island. Along the way, he is going to battle enemies and conquer dungeons. The dungeons themselves come with tricks, traps, and enemies, even ones that come from the Super Mario series.

The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening offers a new Chamber Dungeon mode not found in the original Game Boy release. Throughout the story, players can earn Chambers, or dungeon rooms. Players can then arrange them in order to complete objectives.

So what can players expect in the game? For one, Link gets to meet a lot of interesting characters. There is Marin, who is the first face that Link sees when he first washes ashore. Tarin is also there, who has this tendency to get into trouble and has Link bail him out. The Owl, on the other hand, acts as mysterious guide to Link and occasionally shows up to offer advice.

Players should also be interested in meeting Old Man Ulrira, or rather hear from him. While he is more than happy to give advice over the phone, he has the tendency to clam up when you visit him in person. Finally, there is Dampe. This friendly, but frightful-looking character has his job description as "dig up interesting stuff."

Other features of the game include:

  • Listen to a reawakened soundtrack that helps bring life to Koholint Island.
  • Complete dungeons throughout the story to earn their rooms for the Chamber Dungeon.
  • Earn additional chambers in mini-games and by tapping any Legend of Zelda amiibo figure.
    • By getting the amiibo figure, players get to unlock Shadow Link in the Chamber Dungeon.

The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening is available at a suggested retail price of $59.99.
