Riot just revealed Ivern, the Green Father’s abilities and they are absolutely insane. League of Legends will never be the same once this frolicky green giant comes to the Rift in the next few weeks. His secondary skin may be the best in the game; he’s a candy king who frolics with little gingerbread men and giant cupcakes.

Ivern is a jungler who doesn't like to fight jungle monsters. His passive, Friend of the Forest, puts a grove around a jungle camp and after a few seconds, he gains experience, gold and whatever buff the monster was holding. Afterwards, the monster or camp disappears and can’t be taken by anyone else. After level five, Ivern automatically gains a copy of blue or red buff whenever he frees the monsters, leaving behind a sapling which can buff allies. It’s a unique mechanic that’s unlike anything we’ve seen before in League of Legends .

The tree man’s first ability, Rootcaller throws an Elise cocoon-style projectile, rooting a target on impact. Ivern and his allies can auto attack the rooted enemy and teleport over to them. It’s a lot like Maokai’s Twisted Advance, but with a bit more counter and team play. Enemies can work around the root and avoid Ivern all together.

Even so, that won't be easy when Ivern combines it with his second ability, Brushmaker. For the first time in League of Legends history, a champion can make bushes. Not just any bushes, special bushes that can pop up anywhere on the map. He has three charges with this ability, allowing Maokai’s little brother to sneak up on enemies without being targetable. Just imagine the terror your enemy will face when a Rengar and Ivern team up to camp their lane.

Ivern’s third ability, Triggerseed puts a shield on an ally, protecting them for a few seconds. When the shield expires or is activated again, a slow is applied to all enemies around the shielded champion. Ganking with Ivern is going to be a walk in the park. Head on over to bot lane, drop a bush so the enemy can’t target you, throw out a root and if they are still alive after all that, slow them with a super shield.

If all of this wasn’t enough to make you love Ivern, his ultimate, Daisy! will sway you. He summons a golem covered in flowers that attacks whichever enemy Ivern targets. After the golem punches three times, he knocks the enemy into the air. I love pets in League, Annie is one of my favorite champions.

Ivern will be on the PBE by the end of today and iDigitalTimes will get to try him out.
