The Last of Us Part 2 looks like starting the year strong. The game managed to snag 24 nominations at the 2020 NAVGTR Awards. With the awards show having 57 categories, that’s a rather impressive number of nominations. However, the pressure is there considering that the previous game, The Last of Us, won 15 awards back in 2013.

The awards show is organized by the National Academy of Video Game Trade Reviewers, a non-profit organization, which promotes and recognizes game developers. The winners are set to be announced on February 22.

While the number of nominations received by The Last of Us Part 2 is indeed impressive, the next two games in the top are just as striking. Ghost of Tsushima received 21 nominations while Marvel’s Spider-Man Miles Morales got 20 nominations. The latter though didn’t manage to make it to the main category - the Game of the Year. Nominees for this category are:

  • Animal Crossing: New Horizons
  • Assassin’s Creed Valhalla
  • Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War
  • Genshin Impact
