In Iron Fist episode 3, Colleen Wing enters a fight ring under the name Daughter of The Dragon. This is one of the first big Iron Fist easter eggs and it could come into play later on in The Defenders. In the comics, Colleen Wing and Misty Knight formed a duo named Daughters of The Dragon.

Colleen and Misty Knight (who we met in Luke Cage) were often at odds with Steel Serpent, a villain we will learn more about as Iron Fist progresses. In fact, Steel Serpent was the first to call Misty and Colleen Daughters of the Dragon. The nickname stuck.

While the two haven’t met yet in Iron Fist so far (as of episode 4), but we know the two heroines will be working together alongside Luke Cage, Daredevil, Jessica Jones and Iron Fist in The Defenders. Daughters of the Dragon was a short-lived comic series, but the pair continued their adventures as supporting characters in Power Man and Iron Fist.

Like in the TV show, Colleen was one of Iron Fist’s first friends when he returned to New York. In the comics, she was rescued by police officer Misty Knight, which is how the two met and eventually became best friends. They formed a private investigation firm called Nightwing Restorations, Ltd. Misty and Colleen often worked for Heroes for Hire, Luke Cage and Iron Fist’s crime fighting business. Hopefuly, the name will also be referenced when we see Colleen and Misty together in The Defenders.

The Struggle Is Not Real
If you’re looking for shock value, Iron Fist does not have it. Netflix and Marvel have turned an interesting superhero into a basic bro.
  • Colleen Wing is a delight
  • The last four episodes are significantly more entertaining
  • Problematic character development
  • Lackadaisical fight scenes
