Infinite Stratos: Versus Colors, the high-speed 3D competitive action game from developer Project YNP and publisher 5pb, will be coming soon to Steam, as announced on the developer’s website.
For those who are unfamiliar with the game, Infinite Stratos is a light novel series that started in 2010. Since then, it has birthed multiple media versions from anime, manga, Internet radio shows and a video game franchise. The plot basically revolves around Japan in the near future. A Japanese scientist creates a high-tech powered exoskeleton called “Infinite Stratos” (IS). This leads to a crisis as the combat capabilities of the IS surpasses any other known weapon in the world, which can possibly result in destabilizing the world. To overcome this threat, the world’s nations enact the “Alaska Treaty”. This states that the Infinite Stratos will never be used for military combat purposes and that all existing technology of it must be distributed equally to all nations of the world. Fast forward a few year later, and the world and society is now a matriarchy caused by the fact that the IS can only be controlled by women.
The upcoming Steam version, which will be titled Infinite Stratos: Versus Colors Expansion Included, was based on the original game released in Japan for the PC in 2014. The new version features enhanced graphics and includes the August 2015-released Append + Soundtrack content, which will include two additional characters, bonus gameplay elements, brand new songs and more.
These are the following playable characters mecha fans should look out for in the upcoming Infinite Stratos: Versus Colors Expansion Included:
- Ichika Orimura / Byakushiki
- Houki Shinonono / Akatsubaki
- Cecilia Alcott / Blue Tears
- Lingyin Huang / Shenlong
- Charlotte Dunois / Rafale Revive Custom II
- Laura Bodewig / Schwarzer Roegen
- Tatenashi Sarashiki / Mysterious Lady
- Kanazashi Sarashiki / Uchigane Nishiki
At the moment, it is still unknown whether the Steam release will support other languages besides its native Japanese. Given that the game has quite the strong following in the West, it would be surprising if it doesn’t.
Infinite Stratos: Versus Colors Expansion Included will be released on PC via Steam on August 2.
