It's official! House Party is now fully released! This incredible milestone comes after years of development. While this is indeed exciting news, especially for long-time players, there's another reason why the release of the full version is indeed a milestone. That's because a female character is now joining the party.
When the game first entered early access, the main character was male. But with the introduction of a female protagonist, it's sure to change the gameplay experience.
For example, while most of her story may have a familiar feel, it comes with its own variations. She's joining the part due to being invited by a different bestie. Not only that, she will receive different reactions from the partygoers and could even hear background conversations. Players can look forward to new ways of bonding with some of the familiar characters and even see new romance scenes.
It's also worth noting that studio Eek! Games had to deal with a lot during the development of the game. Besides the usual technical issues, they've had to fight against censorship, and it had been a struggle to have the "game listed on new platforms." Indeed, it's fortunate that Steam allows these kinds of games.
The team went on to say that in addition to censorship, they also had to face what they called "journalist negativity." However, they succeeded in all those challenges mainly due to the strong support of the community. Since then, the game has had very positive reviews on Steam, a strong player base, and good press.
