Gotham Knights was announced last month during DC FanDome. Surprisingly, the game isn't centered around Batman, but instead focuses on the Bat-family. Gotham Knights is being developed by the same team that worked on Arkham Origins, and the game's main plot revolves around the Bat-family teaming together to take on the Court of Owls that is terrorizing Gotham after the Caped Crusader's death.

Although fans have a general idea of what Gotham Knights will look and play like, many of them are wondering about the cosmetics. One of the biggest questions is whether or not cosmetics will be locked behind a paywall. In a conversation with Comicbook.com, developer WB Montreal stated that Gotham Knights will ship with various character skins and costumes at launch.

"I know it's weird to hear this because it seems unusual at this point, but we are shipping the game with a lot of that content," stated Gotham Knight's creative director Patrick Redding, "We really are focused so much on the game that people will buy and making sure that it gives them a big range in terms of looks, in terms of abilities, in terms of character opportunities." Flemming also made it clear that character skins and costumes are "not something that's only going to be available to people on DLC."

It is quite interesting to see that WB Montreal has a different take on DLC, as many gamers assumed that Gotham Knights will be similar to the recently launched Marvel's Avengers. Marvel's Avengers has been heavily criticized for implementing a microtransaction strategy that is centered around encouraging players to spend money on costumes.

While we are on the Batman topic, you might also be interested to know that Rocksteady is working on a new multiplayer game as well, titled Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. This new Suicide Squad game is expected to launch in 2022.

Gotham Knights is releasing in 2021 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
