Publisher Modus Games and developer Modus Studios Brazil officially announced God of Rock, a rhythm/fighting game coming sometime this winter to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam. It will retail for $29.99. To celebrate the announcement of God of Rock, Modus Games put up a new trailer, which you can check out below.

The game itself looks very interesting, but it’s been said that rhythm games live and die by their music selection; if the music choice in the trailer is anything to go by, it feels a bit generic at times. The idea in itself for God of Rock is very good, although it will be worth seeing if its overall implementation will be pleasing once it finally launches.

God of Rock combines two genres to make a very interesting game; it’s a rhythm game, first and foremost, but the goal is to ultimately be better at keeping a rhythm to knock out your opponent. Think Guitar Hero meets any fighting game with fighting game-style inputs and dynamic special moves players can attack opponents with.

A mysterious God of Rock has revived the souls of the universe’s greatest musicians to clash for his entertainment. With their revitalized new bodies, these musicians will soon take to the stage to battle it out with other hopefuls for complete musical supremacy across the world.

God of Rock features four distinct modes. Story Mode follows your character of choice through a branching narrative campaign to battle other musicians and become the last one standing. Training Mode, as implied, is a free space where you can challenge difficult music segments. A Track Editor allows you to put your own spin on your favorite tracks. Local and Online multiplayer modes are also available, either in Ranked or Casual.

God of Rock features over-the-top musical battles where the tracks will continue to scale in difficulty until only one musician remains. The game includes over 40 original songs, each offering a unique challenge to master, and 12 different character musicians to choose from, each with their own special playstyle.
