Assassin's Creed Syndicate is the ninth installment in the franchise and was released in 2015 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and the PC. It's the successor Assassin's Creed Unity, released in 2014, and follows the main premise of the series which involves a fictional history of real-world events with a secret was happening behind the scenes. It's between the Assassins, who fight for peace and liberty, against the Templars, who also desire peace but want it through control.

Assassin's Creed Syndicate is set during the Industrial Revolution, which is sometime around 1868. During this time, the Templar Order has managed to take over London through the wealthy industrialists and the criminal underworld. Players take on the role of the twins Jacob and Evie Frye. Jacob is more of a brawler who specializes in close-ranged combat while Evie is all about wit and intelligence and prefers to use stealth. The duo is tasked with establishing their very own underground gang in the hopes of undermining whatever hold the Templars have on the city. They'll also need to look for an elusive Piece of Eden.

First Playable Female Character

Much like the titles before it, the game has players complete missions if they want to progress through the story. However, when not on missions, they have the option to roam the open world freely. At the time of its release, Assassin's Creed Unity has the largest world in the series. With the introduction of Evie, the Assassin's Creed franchise finally had its first female playable character.

New Features

In terms of weapons, the main weapons were not swords and long weapons but instead more era accurate. That means the likes of compact revolvers, brass knuckles, cane-swords, and even the Nepalese curved kukri knives. Combat system was also changed with the focus now on chaining together attacks and blocks. Meanwhile, the stealth system also had several improvements along with the addition of new gadgets. There was also a kidnapping mechanism where players could take an enemy hostage and then be able to blend in with them to remain unseen as long as they're not in close proximity to another enemy.
