Genesis, an upcoming free-to-play MOBA from Chinese studio Rampage Games, will launch soon for the PlayStation 4 in mid to late August 2019.

Dubbed as a next-generation multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) game, Genesis is developed using Unreal Engine 4 and features your usual MOBA set up of five people teaming up against another group of five. It also adds multiple game modes and PvE experiences, as well as a story driven campaign, a game mode which is unheard of in MOBA titles. The campaign stages have different difficulties that scale with its respective rewards. Harder stages mean better loot, but you will need a solid team to actually get the reward.

For the longest time, MOBAs have always been played with a keyboard and mouse. Games like League of Legends and DotA 2 are able to utilize a keyboard's multiple keys to create unique keymaps that may provide advantages for certain type of players. For a game that focuses on map awareness and teamwork, the ability to use your mouse to hover around the map is an irreplaceable and very important feature for MOBA fanatics.

However, since the advent of mobile MOBAs such as Vainglory, Arena of Valor, and Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, it seems that playing MOBAs with joystick or joystick “like” controls has become more commonplace, and is actually a fun and playable experience. Also, one of the arguable advantages of joystick or controller based MOBAs is the relatively easy entrance for newcomers to the genre. Genesis’ developers stated that “it doesn’t matter if you are a pro looking to claim the top spot in ladder or if you are just relaxing in your own living room with a chill vibe, you can find exactly what you are looking for in Genesis.”, focusing more on ease and intuitiveness of controls.

Pre-registration is now open at the game’s official website, and those who will pre-register will receive the “Hero Trial Card Bundle” and 200 in-game credits. Genesis will launch before the end of the month for the PlayStation 4.
